Discover the Gloomy and Evocative Sound of Post Death Soundtrack

Hannah Manson

Collectors of influences and stylings, Canadian rock agents Post Death Soundtrack like to mix and match, delving into melancholic doom anthems, snappy grunge riffs and a healthy amount of chaotic hardcore and trash matter. ‘Veil Lifter’ is the strongest evidence of that. The pair’s latest effort, the album puts together ten fierce and punchy pieces, hitting the listeners right in the guts.

There’s no pause or relief; a cascade of melancholic and gloomy guitar extravaganza wraps everyone into a legendary sonic picture, one that takes no prisoners. One of our favourite episodes in the record is perhaps ‘The Die is Cast’ – a slice of metal-powered charisma with a truly evocative ending, quite hypnotising and vibrant.

Speaking about the record, Steve from Post Death Soundtrack explains: “The album is intended, as all my work is, to be completely uncensored, unashamedly dark, raw emotionally, and therefore, cathartic and freeing. It was literally written from deep within the shadows during nearly impossible times. Isolation, depression, addiction, chaos, burned bridges, health failures, and strangely, perseverance and the resilience of the inner witness”.
