Discovering a single tune from an artist or band that truly resonates is always special. Discovering two can feel like you’ve struck gold. Then, before you know it, you’re deeply enveloped in said artist or band’s work.
Such was the case last year with an indie-rock trio called The Flying Beets. Hailing from Fort Worth, the outfit delivered three of my favourite tracks of 2024, and today I’d like to hone in on ‘Don’t Let Me Notice’, the last of the three to be released.
With Alexis Randolph jumping in on drums, the trio tap into a rockabilly, alternative country style. It’s a wonderful showcase of the act’s ability to mix up their sound at the drop of a hat, and provides further proof that their versatility is their greatest asset.
Seriously catchy and full of life and colour, ‘Don’t Let Me Notice’ holds that certain energy that just captures listeners. It’s an anthemic song that refuses to be ignored, and looks certain to hit the same heights as its extraordinary predecessors ‘The Stupid Way You Breathe‘ and ‘Villain‘.
2025 could be the year of The Flying Beets. They deserve all the plaudits that come their way, and I can’t wait to hear what comes next!
Serious tune alert! Enjoy ‘Don’t Let Me Notice’ on Spotify now:
