We clearly remember featuring a couple of talented Norwegian songwriters not long ago… Armed with their trusted acoustic guitars, the focus was on delivering country-flavoured, Americana goodness. In fact, we wrote about them here – celebrating their previous single ‘Moving Down South’. Yep, we are talking about them: Down South Pepper Band, the eclectic and nostalgic duo so fiercely championing an organic and soul-stirring outlook on Country music. Music for the campfire, someone would say, drenched in witty storytelling and learning experiences.

Now, Down South Pepper Band return with their latest effort, a charming and hopeful exploration of the balance between the good and bad in life – all delivered with a charming and polite attitude. ‘The Funny Part’, they call it.
Also known as Rune Nyby and Per Øyvind Mathisen by day, the two Norwegians seem to have clear ideas regarding their artistry, a direction that so often brings them close to a traditional American aesthetic. ‘The Funny Part’ is once again the biggest evidence of their songwriting prowess and intense musicianship, something we are still not tired of.
