Upon listening ‘…guess it would’, one is bound to be highly mesmerized by the Icelandic talent’s soulful and eclectic character, balanced over jazz-flavoured material and RnB-powered vocal harmonies. That’s the main thing about Silja Rós – she’s constantly blending diverse influences to create an authentic and kaleidoscopic artistic offering, which now fully materializes in the majestic elegance of ‘…guess it would’.
Emerging from the icy and solitary lands of Iceland, Silja Rós seems to be directly influenced by them, boasting a measured and delicate musicianship, perfectly fitting her vocal qualities. Her intensity and tone control is absolutely impressive. Notably, she’s not just a musical artist, but also delving into acting and scriptwriting. An all-round creative, some might say.
She recently competed in the Icelandic pre-selection for Eurovision with her song ‘Together we grow’, a nice distraction from Rós’ long-term effort to complete her third album. ‘…guess it would’ is the second single from the album – if that’s anything to go by, we are in for a real gem of an album. The song was written with Icelandic producer Magnus Dagsson, who also performed guitar, bass & keys.
