Emerging from London, SickRichard are one of those bands that champions a fierce, raw and energetic old-school rock style, navigating punk and post-rock influences with personal flair. The results are absolutely convincing, showcasing a group of skilled musicians that still manage to keep their tracks relatable and catchy, while turning the distortion knob up to 11. Take for instance ‘Chickens’ their latest singles. There’s an inherent pop quality to their melodies and vocal prowess, allowing the record to connect with an eclectic field of listeners while maintaining a charming unfiltered style.
Formed in January 2017, SickRichard consists of Sam on vocals and guitars, Ed on bass and keys/synth, and Steve on drums/percussion and vocals. Their trio generates an alluring sonic formula that blends decades of rock-n-roll, with notable influences from 80s/90s post-punk and alternative rock, as well as various forms of electronic music such as dub, trip-hop, ambient, and big beat.
Recorded at Buffalo Studios and Cable Street Studios with J.B. Pilon, ‘Chickens’ channels all the rebellious and personal imagery akin to the band, further pursuing their ideal of artistic integrity.
