Shaun Scratchley is an up-and-coming indie singer/songwriter hailing from Hampshire, and ‘Party Girl’, released in February of this year, serves as his very first single. It’s a seriously catchy and captivating little tune that fuses elements of indie-rock with upbeat pop, manufacturing a track that instantly sticks in your head. Telling the true tale of meeting a girl at a party, spending hours talking to her, and falling head over heels in love, ‘Party Girl’ showcases Shaun’s incredible songwriting and storytelling prowess. “A small part of the inspiration for the song also came from Lord Byron’s ‘She Walks in Beauty’,” admits Scratchley.
It’s tough to believe that the tune is the musician’s first official release. It’s so polished and faultless. I guess, he did work alongside award-winning producer, mixer, and recording engineer Harrison Perks, so this allowed Scratchley to get the exact sound that he was after. “Harrison from HP Music made the entire thing possible,” says Shaun. “Especially in accordance with the quality it ended with”.
I can see Shaun Scratchley going from strength to strength within the indie music scene. He’s just unleashed his debut album ‘You’, and I am so fortunate to be reviewing another of its singles ‘On My Way’ next week! Stay tuned!
