Discover minus32heartbeat’s Immersive Cover of ‘Dreams’

Don’t get me wrong…I love a good cover song. But, there’s always an inherent risk in pulling one off successfully. Thankfully, Manhattan-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Matt Friedlander courageously seizes that challenge. Performing under the moniker minus32heartbeat, Matt is the former lead guitarist and songwriter for The GoStation. After taking a fifteen-year hiatus from music, the artist finally returns with a wonderfully inventive solo cover of The Cranberries’ classic ‘Dreams’.

A tune that will form part of minus32heartbeat’s forthcoming debut album ‘DHRICMV’, the synthy and dreamy remix was created in anticipation of the musician becoming a father. “I recorded ‘Dreams’ as a capsule for my son, who will be born in January 2024,” says Matt. What a beautiful present for one’s child!

Clocking in at four and a half minutes, the track is a deeply immersive sonic adventure. Laced with nostalgia and a warm, comforting atmosphere, it’s unquestionably one of the most ingeniously reimagined covers I’ve heard in a while.

Drawing on influence from the likes of The Velvet Underground, Oasis, Hans Zimmer, and M83, minus32heartbeat is a musical project that I feel could be seriously onto something! I can’t wait to hear ‘DHRICMV’ in full!

Serious tune alert! Enjoy ‘Dreams’ on Spotify now:
