There’s something unique in Little Tealeif’s music. Perhaps his vocals, exploring a personal formula balanced between singing and rapping. Or better, his kaleidoscopic productions, a charming blend of groovy indie guitars, intricate rhythms and bubbly electropop. What’s certain, is that we are in front of an artist with clear ideas, a unique identity, and something to say. Championing his artistry, Little Tealeif’s debuted earlier this month with ‘Pedestal Single’, a propaedeutic single for the British talent’s upcoming EP, ‘Charcoal’.
Emerging from Kent, Little Tealeif boats a nuanced and intense life spent travelling around the world between vices and excess. The only constant was music: a gifted songwriter since a young age, he went on to travel Australia, ending up in Paris for a chaotic 10 years. Fighting alcohol and drug abuse, Little Tealeif eventually managed to get himself clean, revamping his longtime personal affair with music.
Introduced by a catchy and memorable melody, ‘Pedestal People’ sheds a light on the Kent talent’s artistry. Also featuring a B-side, ‘The Grey Side of Good’, the record is instrumental in establishing Little Tealif’s peculiar style. While ‘Pedestal People’ focuses on indie and pop influences, ‘The Grey Side of Good’ returns to the project’s roots, showcasing great Hip-hop and rap character.
Describing the concept behind the single, the artist explains: “Pedestal People was written about acquaintances who had their lives together and I was a little bit jealous of that. I’ve come to learn that nobody has their lives together and it’s just a perspective on that situation of comparing ourselves to each other.”
