You can’t beat experience, it always wins, eventually. JT + Agnostics make that sentence especially true: the artistic marriage of musical heroes JT Thompson and Maciek Hribowicz, the duo delivers peculiar blues music, playing on classic references and contemporary aesthetics, building a sound they call “Kiwicana blues – blues you CAN believe”. We can actually believe it: their latest single ‘Everytime I Walk Out The Door’ engages in mid-tempo, sultry 12/8 blues, with the addition of horns, jazz-infused guitar solos and playful lyricism.
Hailing from New Zealand, you’ll find the group’s bubbliness highly amusing. JT + Agnostics showcases all their musical prowess and real blues attitude, especially through JT’s long experience as a performer and musician. It’s Hribowicz that instead takes care of production duties, in what we can certainly say are capable hands.
So, what can you expect from ‘Everytime I Walk Out The Door’? Well, it reminds us of an eclectic Stevie Ray Vaughan, although one with a more refined lyricism and expressivity. JT sings about the oldest theme in the book: love, which always works. You’ll find it interesting to check out the music video, a superb exercise in how to make a great product with minimal equipment. Shot by Simon Rabi, a well-known cinema photographer, it will leave you with a new perspective on JT + Agnostics.
