Discover Baaj & Baaj’s Moody Track ‘I Can’t Think’

Jeremy Bregman

Towards the end of last year, French-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Baaj & Baaj released his single ‘I Can’t Think’ to much acclaim. With over 37,000 plays on Spotify already, it’s fair to say that his unique and eclectic sound has resonated with many. Drawing on inspiration from 1980s Britpop, new wave, and electronic music, Baaj & Baaj has created a haunting and moody tune that sucks you in straight away with its eerie synths. The musician’s Brian Ferry-esque vocals are the perfect addition to the soundtrack, and it’s a song that somehow sounds familiar yet fresh all at the same time.

Baaj & Baaj (real name Jean-Philippe) was born into a family of professional jazz musicians and took up the guitar at the tender age of just seven. Eventually moving on to the piano, he was hailed as “Little Mozart” by his first piano teacher and then went on to study other instruments like the clarinet and the saxophone as well.

Jean-Philippe is a truly gifted multi-instrumentalist, and ‘I Can’t Think’ is, hands down, one of my tunes of the year! I love those dark, moody keys and his vocals are just spot on! We want more!
