Discover Ari Joshua’s Genre-Bending Instrumental ‘Dragons Layer’

With his eighteenth single of the year, Seattle-based guitarist, composer, and producer Ari Joshua unleashes an all-out assault on the auditory senses! Now, I’m going to be frank with you straight from the off, ‘Dragons Layer’ might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but that’s precisely where its genius lies. Venturing into sonic territories that not many dare go, it’s a tune that doesn’t just push boundaries – it breaks straight through them!

Some have described the track as cinematic, others grunge, and some even classical. What isn’t in dispute, however, is its experimental brilliance and its ability to completely redefine genre norms. ‘Dragons Layer’ defies categorisation really. It’s just an invitation to the listener to go on a journey of sonic exploration that knows no bounds.

Working alongside jazz legends Billy Martin (drums) and John Medeski (keyboard), as well as renowned upright bassist Jason Fraticelli, Ari has created a bold, fearless, and intriguing marvel. Inspired by the works of John Zorn, MMW, Marc Ribot, and Frank Zappa, Joshua’s fearless experimentation is all about challenging conventional norms. “Imperfections can lead us in giant steps toward what’s real,” he says. “Sometimes that’s what makes an artist’s greatest art”.
