Anxiety Attack are a band on a mission. Literally: fully committing to their creative and artistic vision, the Tampa-based outfit has been crushing the hype game, slowly but surely getting the industry and popular attention they deserve. They are adamant about it too: “We moved mountains to get this album to people’s ears. To say there was blood and sweat in every song would be an understatement.” Confidence is important, especially when your records are actually pretty good.
If you are a newbie in Anxiety Attack-Land, ‘Knives’ may be the perfect starting point. Taken from the group’s latest album ‘Decent’ – out now – the single showcases everything the project stands for: vivid, expressive alt-rock matter with a high degree of relatability and a melancholic, evocative outlook. The chorus in ‘Knives’ is exactly as powerful and heart-shaking as we would expect it to be, especially thanks to the vibrant, anthemic vocals on top of it.
‘Decent’ does follow the same formula, constantly oscillating between fuzzy, gritty distortion and mellower, meaningful melodies. The occasional screamy vocals represent the cherry on the cake. From a lyrical standpoint, Anxiety Attack thrives when confronted with the intricate reality around them, in particular regarding “losing close friends, and breakups. I’d say the strifes of youth. Wanting certain things to work out, but they don’t.”
