For the uninitiated, Disco Mary will be a worthy and welcome discovery. You see, this is not your typical band. Rather, it’s a supergroup, a collection of individually relevant and talented creatives coming together to create something more than the simple sum of its part. Featuring the likes of Kev Sherry and Charly Haze (who we have featured on our pages before, btw), Disco Mary manage to build a particularly compelling sound, borrowing indie influences and blending them with a Gospel-like positive attitude and arena-style choral chants.
As they recall with pride, we owe to the legendary BBC presenter Steve Lamacq the first mention of them as an ‘indie supergroup’. While we agree, it’s also true that Disco Mary it’s way more than that, their lyrical and sonic style is truly widening with every release, pointing to a majestic and informed project with incredible potential.
‘Magic In The Hours’ is the group’s latest single, the second one to grace the music scene this year. In it, the listeners will find an emotional and kind soul-infused gem, a slow-paced jewel that greatly focuses on its uplifting lyrical message. A comforting and empowering anthem, the song seeks to motivate us in pushing through difficult times with pride and dignity.
