I have previous experience with Disco Dreams. Meaning, I was lucky enough to discover the project a few months ago, only to instantly vibe with its industrial, dark-wave vibes and electronic contours. Writing about ‘Metallic Fuzz’, I proudly declared it “a truly stunning, misty and hazy record”. It doesn’t get any better than that!
Or does it? Disco Dreams’ latest effort ‘Lizard Space Lounge’ is equally impressive, and an even groovier and more vibrant record built on classic 80s drum machines, then complemented by an abstract stream of noisy, liquid synthetisers. Drenched in gloomy and obscure vibes, ‘Lizard Space Lounge’ moves with charisma and power, further developed through Disco Dreams’ ethereal, spacious vocals.
Written as part of the upcoming ‘Cyber Tippin’ EP, the single tries to be relatable and perhaps popular, but its identity is niche and alternative. It does not matter ultimately: Disco Dreams’ artistry flourishes in its own space, a space we are happy to be part of.
