Dirty Mitts Returns with Meaningful Rock Ballad ‘Women’

If we had to describe Dirty Mitts, we’d say they embody the primordial spirit of rock. Remember Led Zeppelin or AC/DC? The London-based outfit is a blend between the two, serving up familiar and fierce guitar riffs with evocative and eclectic vocals. Although sonically they could be described as retro, or traditional, their lyricism is decisively more contemporary, delving into themes of equality and fairness. Dirty Mitts’ latest record, ‘Women’ is exactly that, an anthem for societal justice, wrapped in slow-paced classic rock goodness.

Described as a ballad, we believe ‘Women’ is much more. Firstly, the pace is not that slow, and overall, there’s a strong sense of fierceness and electrifying pride, making the record rather hard-hitting and memorable. The British band is gearing up for a longer release, of which ‘Women’ is a much-loved preview. ‘Hands Off’ EP will see the light on November 10th.

Commenting on the song’s lyrical meaning, lead singer Tommy Balaam explains: “The hook line ‘give me women on equal pay,” ‘is not just a catchy hook but a nod to contemporary themes that are becoming more prominent in music.”
