Dexter Dine Gets Experimental on ‘Intertidal’

Jeremy Bregman

Dexter Dine is a Brooklyn-based experimental musician, composer, and multi-instrumentalist. Known to some as the “prolific apartment rocker”, he recently released a new album entitled ‘Flood’. Track three of the album is a tune called ‘Intertidal’, and it’s a wonderfully inventive and avant-garde little track that I’ve recently fallen in love with. Now for the hard part…how best to describe ‘Intertidal’. Indie-folk? Psychedelic? Art-pop? Whatever you want to call it really, it’s a song that I guarantee you won’t soon forget. Seamlessly weaving together elements of different genres, Dine keeps you on your toes with his intricate arrangement and twists and turns.

The experimental and innovative nature of ‘Intertidal’ is sure to captivate and delight listeners who are looking for something truly unique and original. This tune is just one example of Dine’s incredible musical talent and his ability to craft memorable and enduring songs.

Inspired by the instrumental work of Japanese artists like Yasuaki Shimizu and Miharu Koshi, as well as the saxophone playing of Ethiopian musicians like Hailu Mergia, Dexter Dine is carving out a sound and a style all of his own. It’s extremely exciting! And we cannot wait to hear more!
