Boasting a fantastic career spanning decades, singer and musician Denise Marsa is certainly not done yet. Building on the wealth of artistic expertise she’s accumulated over the years, the New York-based songstress unveils a monumental album packed with pop lusciousness, relatable lyricism and an eclectic, ever-modulating sonic direction.
Titled ‘Pivotal’, the record is s rather expansive offering, jumping from mainstream, anthemic pop to vintage and nostalgic 80s flavourings. A rich melting-pot of influences – even touching hip-hop beats – the album is simply at the service of Marsa’s brilliant lyricism, further heightened by her evocative and vibrant tone, the perfect match for such an electrifying record. ‘Don’t Count Yourself Out Yet’ gets extracted as a lead single, with an engaging music video too.
Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Pivotal’, Denise explains: “It explores the effects of desire, loneliness and relationship complexities, a gripping narrative is woven into each captivating soundscape”.
