There’s a healthy amount of early ‘2000s alt-rock in ‘Polymer’. Reminding us of groups such as Hoobastank, and perhaps 3 Doors Down, the record bathes in the holy water at the intersection of rock and emotional matter, creating a highly alluring formula that’s intense and evocative, yet still friendly and relatable.
Perhaps one of Fake Figures’ less punchy offerings, ‘Polymer’ positively benefits from tamer distortions and enhanced melodious vocals. It’s a joy to listen to. The single is taken from the group’s latest EP, ‘From Within’, released last year. In it, the keen listeners will be able to get to know them on a deeper level, expanding the artistic narrative through a stronger metal outlook (‘Burn the Tyrants’ springs to mind).
Hailing from California, Fake Figures blend an eclectic lineup, boasting a strong history of past militancy in bands such as Atreyu, Scars of Tomorrow, Cassetta and Adamantium. It’s no wonder their music is so good – it all stems from collective experiences and wise expertise.
