“I think it is the most complete and accomplished song I have ever written”, David Sharp proudly explains. While the piece will likely resonate in different ways to any keen listener out there, ‘I Wanna Be The One’ is certainly incredibly expressive and evocative, a gentle slice of romantic glory delivered by the British troubadour’s wholesome, earthy vocals. Written for Valentine’s Day, the song is pretty clear in its lyrical message.
David would like to be ‘the one’. We respect that: such a crucial intention is laid upon a heartwarming sonic arrangement, with charming acoustic guitars and simple drums accompanying Sharp in his noble endeavour. What’s more, the release also includes an instrumental version, perfect for singing along. Inspired by giants such as Lennon and McCartney, the London-based creative aims for a straightforward, uncomplicated message wrapped in aural candies.
Sharing glimpses from the writing process, Sharp explains: “I wanted to create the best song I had so far in my career, so I worked on my writing skills to try to get the song to the next level, including balancing comfort and familiarity with originality without losing connection. I played with it for days until it felt like I had got the balance right”.
