Dash Hammerstein Shares Introspective and Transformative Effort ‘Silence, Memory’

For some, music is above all an exercise in artistic creation. Without following trends of mainstream tropes, they only pursue what’s meaningful, narrating what needs to be narrated. Dash Hammerstein is one of those figures. An introspective composer from Brooklyn, New York, Hammerstein is what could be described as a musical powerhouse, a creative entity able to drive projects and visions forward. Anticipating a larger release later this year, Dash unveils his latest effort, a collaborative and eclectic single titled ‘Silence, Memory’.

Hosting a plethora of friends contributing to everything, from background vocals to horn and strings, the American artist lets himself be inspired by his work as a film composer, building a musical panorama more aking to a soundtrack, able to transport the listeners into a newly-built, imaginary sonic universe. Inspired by an emblematic Tilda Swinton in her 2021 movie ‘Memoria’, Hammerstein reflects over time, memory, non-permanence and effervescence, ultimately providing a unique and transformative listening experience.

‘Silence, Memory’ also features guest vocals courtesy of Dash’s sister Grace and friend Adam. With a strong Brian Eno influence both in the song itself and in the production, Dash’s single is a unique concoction of influences and ideas, creating something that is truly remarkable. Perhaps not a record for everyone, we expect it to conquer the most culturally gifted listeners, the ones that aim to understand human nature and the meaning of art, not satisfied with continuously being fed a stream of useless information.
