We are glad to see Daniel Young back with new music! First coming in contact with him thanks to a previous single, ‘Help Us Get Along’, Mesmerized proudly declared: “An incredibly fierce and positive slice of vintage country and Americana packed into a modern and enticing livery”. We stand by our words: Young is not only a fine interpreter of tradition but also a nuanced and contemporary creative, packing his material with relatable and nostalgic feelings.
‘Leave It Out To Dry’ is the Salt Lake City musician’s latest effort, an album that widens the project’s artistic horizons, while doubling down on classic Americana stylings, especially in the form of warm slide guitars and comfortable arrangements. Crowning it all, we find Young’s evocative, fuzzy vocals, showcasing a sharp tone driving traditional storytelling – we dig it!
Lyrically, the record explores the great depth of life, with Daniel delving into everyday romance in a blissful and gracious manner, using it as a metaphor for humanity’s great existential mystery.
