CS Hellmann Returns with ‘Postcards’

CS Hellmann is back at it. After previously conquering our hearts with ‘Up Til Dawn’, a record we celebrated as “charming, glorious vocals, evocative and dynamic”, the Nashville-based guitar hero and nuanced songwriter now returns with ‘Postcards’, a single that bathes in the same pop-rock-powered territories, further enhanced by Hellmann’s introspective and moody vocals.

A concoction of fast-paced indie grooves and fuzzy, mesmerising big hooks, the single is as catchy as it could be. Contrasting minimal and intimate verses with more punchy choruses, ‘Postcards’ manages to capture the listener’s attention from the get-go, raising the intensity and the feelings towards the end. Naturally, there’s a good dose of guitar prowess, a natural feature for CS Hellmann, a gifted guitarist and performer. His expert playing is here serving the song, providing a fantastic background for such a wholesome vocal tone.

Lyrically, the track seeks to recall a past unrequited love, describing all the emotional whirlwind and poignancy surrounding such an experience. As Hellman writes: “I left you dead flowers with a broken heart”.
