Cove Share Melancholic Indie Gem ‘Rain’

Although based in Italy, Cove surely possess a strong international flair. Echoing the icy, sleazy and luscious brand of indie made famous by the likes of Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes, the young outfit manages to pen material that’s gloomy and mysterious, all crowned by fuzzy, overdriven vocals and spacious guitar riffs.

‘Rain’ is the strongest evidence of that. Cove’s latest effort, the single embraces dark indie stylings and cathartic lyricism, building its unique identity on a simple, yet very effective formula. Drums, guitar and bass complement each other with a relatively slow-tempo, lulling rhythm bound to hypnotise the listeners. Tomm’s unwavering vocal tone is delivered with a certain degree of indifference while being drenched in short reverb and light distortion. Sotto and Vitt complete what’s a formidable lineup.

Speaking about the heavy and stormy lyrical message behind ‘Rain’, Cove explain: “You can’t help but think about black, heavy clouds approaching when you hear the track. As the rain can wash away a bad relationship, it can also symbolize a new beginning.”
