Couvo is the Brooklyn-based musical project of indie-rocker Josh Couvares, and on his recent single ‘Why Do You Want’, Josh serves up an intimate yet punchy and anthemic little number that I’ve fallen in love with! Asking the question “Why do you want what you want?” through nostalgia-laced palm-muted power chords and electrifying vocals, Couvo turns a critical eye and challenges our wants and desires. Proving himself to be not just a highly talented songwriter, but a deeply gifted storyteller as well, ‘Why Do You Want’ is a tune that hits all the right notes and deserves your attention!
As he alternates between an Alex G-tinged intimacy and that classic 90s alternative rock sound, Couvo takes us on a journey that keeps one immersed the whole way through. It’s also a sign of the artist’s versatility and willingness to go where the music takes him, regardless of genre or style. A true musician, some might say.
With a rather large discography already under his belt, I can’t wait to dive in and discover more of Josh’s music. His latest track has a little something for everyone to enjoy in it, and I get the feeling there’s a lot more where that came from!
