Berlin-based duo Cosmoliner recently unveiled their brand new single in the form of ‘New Frontier’, a spacy and almost psychedelic tune that I’ve fallen completely in love with. Enlisting the help of a session vocalist, the track was designed to introduce the pair’s forthcoming album. It also showcases Cosmoliner’s effortless ability to fuse infectious instrumental hooks with intricate and layered structures.
Propped up by the catchiest loop-based bass lines, the meditative and dreamy song leans into elements of 80s pop and rock. Throw some modern electronic sounds into the mix, and what you have is a sonic journey that transcends genres and eras. Both ethereal and exhilarating, it’s truly one of the best new tunes I’ve come across in some time.
Having grown up on a steady diet of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, and The Beach Boys, the duo also cite acts like Nena and Falco as being inspirational in their sound. It’s this wonderfully colourful mix of influences that gives Cosmoliner their unique and distinctive sound.
With a new single titled ‘Beat The Machine’ on the way, Cosmoliner continues to build momentum, and promises a fresh wave of creativity and musical brilliance! We can’t wait!
