‘Reunited’ might just be the most meaningful album we have ever featured. You see, often songwriting is a means to an end; themes and lyrics are outlined following a marketing need. In the case of Texan troubadour Cory Legendre, songs are a heartfelt and emotional tribute to his late parents, keeping their memory alive from the perspective of a living son.
Dedicated to Lois (4/19/1948 – 8/8/2023) and Walt (10/22/1931 – 3/12/2012). ‘Reunited’ finds its true character in a plethora of country, pop and Americana anthems, each delivered with melancholia and nostalgia. Yet, even among a son’s pain for his late parents, the listeners can pick out the layer of healing energy stemming from such a meaningful and nuanced offering.
This is an album that serves a purpose and will resonate with a large number of listeners out there. Speaking about it, Legendre explains: “Mom insisted there be no funeral when she passed, stating that I was far more creative than that and that she requested I do something better and REUNITED the album was born. I hope the story of family, love and loss…and the hope to recover and find closure – along with their names and stories – live forever.”
