Inspired by a relationship that the artist had just gone through, ‘Mood’ is the brand new concept album from Sydney-based pianist, guitarist, and vocalist Corrj. Described by the artist as a “timeline of my relationship from being single to falling in/out of love and the breakup,” ‘Mood’ is a deeply personal album. At the same time, it’s profoundly relatable and accessible. Thematically, it deals with what you’d imagine under the circumstances; curiosity, hope, love, doubt, loss, and heartache. Each song truly has a different feel and vibe from the next, as Corrj showcases his willingness to get experimental and exploratory with his sound.
Constructed in just three months, ‘Mood’ was co-produced with movie scorer Mason Vellios. Vellios helped bring Corrj’s vision of a sync-focused, larger-than-life composition into existence, and the pair just seem to be a natural fit for one another.
‘Mood’ is, without a doubt, one of the hardest albums I’ve come across to put into some sort of genre, or box. There are certainly elements of pop, R&B, and bits of soul. But then a piano ballad like ‘Infatuation’ comes along and just completely blows you away. A huge congratulations to Corrj on this phenomenal album!
