Dublin-based talent Cormac Todd closed last year with a wonderful single, ‘Lifeboat’ — an impressive collaboration between Cormac, electronic pop producer MACAQ, and Grammy-winning producer Pete Smith (The Police, Duran Duran, Stevie Wonder). Inspired by the sounds of 80s synth pop and modern references to Shawn Mendes, Lorde and The Weeknd, Cormac’s emotionally charged songwriting is reminiscent of the likes of Dermot Kennedy, Joni Mitchell and Taylor Swift.
The content of the song is especially relevant in our current times, exploring themes of support, friendship and unconditional love. As Cormac himself explains, “This project came from so much love and a desire to express this to a very close friend in their time of need, a sentiment I hope the listener can take comfort in too.”
2023 is sure to be a big year for Cormac, with an upcoming EP release and a range of live dates across the UK and Ireland.
