‘I Bought A New Pedal.’ is sort of an iconic record. A charming exercise in anti-conformism, the EP tries to appear casual and spontaneous, but we know there’s a lot of work and planning behind it. Penned by Cormac Liotta – known on our pages as a constant collaborator of teen phenomenon Edie Yvonne – ‘I Bought A New Pedal’ is exactly what it says on the tin.
Cormac bought a new pedal, in fact, at a shop close to his Hollywood home. Inspired by its gritty and raw fuzziness, Liotta wrote three short tracks which feel hard-hitting and mesmerising, wrapping the listeners into sleazy punk and grunge stylings – albeit for a rather short time. That’s what makes the EP special. It is highly digestible and short, allowing us to fully connect with it – as if it were a showreel, a showcase of what Liotta has to offer.
Its April 1st release date gives it a whole new meaning. Is this a real record? Does it even exist? It goes so quickly… certainly giving Cormac an even more majestic musical aura.
