Introduced by a feathery acoustic guitar, the single welcomes Connor Desai’s majestic, mellow vocals, charged with charisma and control. Slowly building up its intensity, ‘Forever’ becomes a rather cinematic and poignant electronic ballad, perfectly highlighting Desai’s malleability and vocal prowess.
Hailing from Seattle, the American creative is familiar with such wholesome and meaningful material, having explored the lines between folk and pop for the past few years. Notably, Connor’s music was featured on a Netflix product and in an upcoming SXSW feature film – it’s clear she has a natural gift for soundtracks.
That’s what ‘Forever’ feels like too: a highly descriptive and striking musical gem. There’s a constant contrast between its more understated sections – with Desai’s vocals and a guitar – and the more elaborate and modern bits, leading to the song ending on a high, glorious note.
