common goldfish Returns With Edgy Anthem To Community ‘I Don’t Feel Today’

It feels great to have common goldfish back. Of course, he never really left us, he’s only really been a play button away. Last week though, he raised his voice one more time with latest effort ‘I Don’t Feel Today’. Is it good? If you know the talented Tottenham resident, you will already know the answer.

But let’s go step by step, who is common goldfish? Based in London, where he makes music in a strong, passionate community of creatives calling the neighbourhood of Tottenham their home, the young artist is a writer and a producer, building a sound that’s as eclectic as they come. Blending trip-hop, hip-hop, electronica and indie sensibilities, the project’s music has taken many people by surprise, thanks to its edge and sense of freshness.

Upon reviewing common goldfish’s earlier record ‘Shout Louder’, we wrote: “really hits the spot, balancing a 90’ inspired breakbeat/electro-funk production with psych-derived vocals and metaphorical lyricism”. All still relevant. Especially the vocals, which in ‘I Don’t Feel Today’ take a very laidback role, quietly and charmingly expressing their disappointment with a culture where we are constantly feeling alone, even when we are surrounded by others. Aided by technology, this ‘social drift’ has been building into our daily lives, alienating our sense of community and togetherness.

The London creative explains the motivation behind the track: “Without wanting to bring too much of a downer, I think it’s important to highlight so we can do more about it. I think the rise of the festival scene in recent years has been a great antidote for example – Bringing people together and spreading joy and positivity. I think it’s really important for society.”

Lead the way, common goldfish, for together we are stronger.
