Cold Fame Continues Their Productive Stream Of Musical Goodness With ‘If That’s Love’

Emerging from Victoria, Canada, newcomers Cold Fame are potentially your new favourite band. Debuting only last year, they have risen sharply in streaming numbers and industry attention, thanks to a peculiar brand of indie-pop, infused with rock and electronica sensibilities. The talented group has been having a productive year so far, with four singles released to date. ‘Cherry Kiss on Ice’ was the group’s latest highlight: a bubbly yet poignant gem, exploring mainstream pop and arena-ready choruses.

Last week, Cold Fame returned with another instalment of their lightning-fast career: ‘If That’s Love’ shifts the sound towards an accentuated band-oriented aesthetic, focusing on a sound that, as described by them, lies at the crossroad between Paramore and The 1975. With this premise, it is hard not to imagine the track as a banger.

And the track is, in fact, a banger. The trio – made up of Jodi Pederson, Damian Anthony and Cody Dalman, releases perhaps their best track to date. It is relatable, catchy, and with a fashionable edge to it. Pederson’s charming, precise vocals float on top of a groovy, syncopated sonic background, enhanced by riffing electric guitars. Once the bridge hits, we get treated to a more ethereal moment, showcasing the enhanced flexibility and imagination possessed by Cold Fame.

A welcome new chapter in the band’s catalogue, we are confident it will help them to advance further, reaching new audiences and simply gaining them new listeners. Because their music is deeply deserving to be listened to.
