Oh, Classtronaut, how we love thee! Earlier this year, the Idaho-based four-piece blew us away with two synth-drenched stunners in the form of ‘Chemical Reaction’ and ‘Gee Whiz’. Despite their brief time on the scene, the neo-psychedelic outfit is making a real name for themselves – and now return with three new tunes that form their latest EP ‘Songs From Hospital Rooms’.
After spending months in hospitals with his son, Brian Fortson, a founding member of the band, found solace in music. “I would write at all hours, surrounded by the hum of heart monitors and oxygen machines,” he says.
Providing listeners with a glimpse into Classtronaut’s unique ability to transform adversity into art, ‘Songs From Hospital Rooms’ is a collection of deeply personal synthwave and synthpop pieces, beginning with the spellbinding ‘Nightshift’. A track that expertly captures those surreal and sleepless nights, the moody offering sets the tone flawlessly.
‘Some Other People’ is a seriously laidback and intoxicating number you simply melt into, before the fresh and energetic sounds of ‘Orbit’ play us out. Eclectic, inventive, and utterly mesmerizing, Classtronaut’s latest EP sets the stage for a musical trajectory that feels boundless.
