Hailing from Boise, Idaho, Classtronaut is a four-piece synthpop act who unleashed their highly anticipated double single ‘Chemical Reaction’ and ‘Gee Whiz’ just a few days ago. Today, we’ll be honing in on the former, a spacey, neo-psychedelic gem that simply melts into your consciousness.
Geniusely capturing the raw emotion and escapism that music provides during tough times, ‘Chemical Reaction’ will likely draw comparisons to the work of Kevin Parker and Nick Allbrook. That’s fair. But, at the same time, there’s a distinctive flair to Classtronaut’s sound that leads me to believe they’re a band charting their own sonic course.
Drenched in synthy goodness and featuring some out-of-this-world basslines, ‘Chemical Reaction’ is an immersive journey you wish didn’t have to end. Rich and expertly assembled, it’s a tune that, while four and a half minutes in length, feels like it could loop endlessly without ever losing its allure.
Despite their relatively short time in the music scene, Classtronaut has already built a strong reputation for delivering powerful live performances, and they’ve shared the stage with renowned acts like Petite Noir and Mystery Skulls. Undoubtedly heading in the right direction, we can’t wait to hear what the outfit gets up to next!
