Clash Bowley Shares Album ‘Alarms and Clangor’

Guest Author

Some artists possess a sound that’s distinctly their own, and Clash Bowley is undoubtedly one of them. Prolific in his output, Bowley’s latest work, “Alarms and Clangor,” is a testament to his innovative approach to music. From the get-go, “Alarms and Clangor” presents unique takes on timeless themes.

The track “Oh, Delilah!” evokes the sensation of being in a cavern, with the elements echoing around you. Despite this atmospheric backdrop, Bowley’s vocals are clear and distinct, reminiscent of Tom Waits. The drum patterns seamlessly integrate into the mix, adding to the song’s immersive quality. One of the standout features of this album is the inventive use of panning.

Tracks like “Ship To Neverland” and “I Am Your Servant” showcase this technique brilliantly, making you wonder if Bowley might venture into Dolby surround mixing—it certainly feels like the music is crying out for it. Throughout the album, flanged-out guitars and frequent distortion create a psychedelic soundscape. The drum programming is another highlight, often diverging from typical patterns to offer something refreshingly unique. Bowley’s vocal delivery varies throughout the album, almost as if he’s channeling different characters. He whispers on “The Fever Shakes” and alters his tone and inflection on “Solar Flare,” keeping the listener engaged with each shift. “Alarms and Clangor” is a universe unto itself, crafted meticulously by Bowley.

There’s not much else to say but wow. Dive in and experience the auditory journey he’s created:
