Clare Easdown Returns with Elegantly Painful Gem ‘Scopolamine’

We have been featuring Australian songstress Clare Easdown quite extensively – it’s clear she’s enjoying a period of unmatched creative and artistic renaissance, allowing her to release material that feels eclectic, meaningful and pretty mesmerising. ‘Scopolamine’ is the perfect evidence of that. Easdown’s latest effort, the record could be described as a heartwrenching, romantic and ethereal journey into unrequited love, delivered with the utmost elegance, or controlled intensity, as we’d define it.

Sonically, the track builds on long, spacious textures, layering minimal percussions with cinematic soundscapes and large reverbs. Clare’s vocals are particularly magical, being drenched in such a heavenly and angelic goo. The stark contrast between its lyricism and production is what makes ‘Scopolamine’ such a rich and introspective effort: Easdown lets the listeners enter her painful universe in a gentle and elegant manner. Just like Lana Del Rey would.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the record, the Aussie talent explains: “’Scopolamine’ is a torn and shredded part of my heart draped into lyrics, melody and beats expressing my ever-present sadness and knowing that I will most likely never hear or see the one that I love ever again. It has been several years and after many manic and crazed attempts of trying to make contact I have realised what I want may most likely never come to fruition.”
