‘I Don’t Like The Rain’ is a delicious journey in Claire Littley‘s soulful, refined musical universe. Championing a sort of retro RnB and Acid Jazz tones, the record creates an intimate, luscious atmosphere, perhaps thanks to wide piano chords, groovy guitars and charming strings. It is an interesting journey, throwing the listener into a throwback cycle that’s sweet and rewarding. We can hear hints of Incognito and George Duke, declined following Littley’s own sensibility. A great record!
‘Smooth’ is the keyword here. Claire Littley manages to draw melodies effortlessly, reminding us of her talent. A talent that never went unnoticed: many could recognise Claire as the voice behind the performance of ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ featured on ‘Neon Genesis Evangelion’; the hugely successful Japanese anime. A strong career that had to take a break after Littley’s life partner passed away.
Luckily for us, the British artist found his way back to music, perhaps helped by the healing power art can have on pain and despair. 2020 saw her writing again, collecting enough material for an upcoming EP, releasing soon. In the meantime, we’ll make treasure of ‘I Don’t Like The Rain’.
