CJ Jarratt Marks Awaited Comeback with ‘Bad For My Teeth’

Originally making his debut in 2022, Birmingham-based voyager CJ Jarratt then decided to take a long hiatus, working on his sound and artistry for a future return. That return happened this week: showcasing his newly-found musical livery, ‘Bad For My Teeth’ leaves behind pop and electronic flavourings in favours of hard-hitting, early 2000s punk-pop energy. Safe to say, it works very well with CJ’s dynamic, playful vocals.

Using the wonderful metaphor of sugary food being “good, but bad for my teeth” – as Jarratt so eloquently sings – the British creative aims to draw a potent parallel with the common pitfalls of a relationship, especially when it comes to taking a step back and accepting its failure. Such a meaningful and nuanced theme is wrapped into lighter and uplifting sonic matter, with ‘Bad For My Teeth’ taking the shape of a stadium-ready, relatable anthem – a giant, massive banger ready to be sung out loud by a large crowd.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the piece, CJ Jarratt explains: “This song is for anyone who needs to realise that their relationship might not be good for them. It’s a hard thing to admit to yourself, but maybe if this song resonates with you, it might help you ask some big questions about whether you’re with the right person or not”.
