Chris Caulfield Returns with Haunting Record ‘Stockholm Syndrome’

It’s great to see Chris Caulfield back on the music scene. The Toronto-based creative can boast eclectic and imaginary artistry, often drenched in meaningful lyricism and modern productions. Following up on recent single ‘Feelings’, a collaborative work with fellow musicians Common Sense, Caulfield is now back with his latest effort, an intense yet nuanced jewel that dips into haunting territories and introspective energy.

‘Stockholm Syndrome’ is exactly that: a dark journey into chronic pain and the addiction to painkillers, here distilled into musical form. A minimal and intimate instrumental, sharing a certain creepy quality, perfectly embraces Caulfield’s gritty and dynamic vocals, conveying the very same fatigue and desperation that an addict might feel.

About the inspiration behind the piece, Chris explains: “It’s about the struggle of treating chronic pain and painkillers/addiction and how the patient can encounter the pain-relieving and euphoric aspect, which have them “in love with their captor”, and the devastation they also unleash on their life, the darker side, and that struggle”.
