Chloe Booth Shares Empowering Pop Banger ‘Backseat’

What makes fantastic pop music? Better ask Chloe Booth! The young Australian just released a bubbly, exciting and uplifting gem, ‘Backseat’, a true pop banger, if there ever was one. Keeping the track relatively short (around two minutes), Booth packs as much energy and charming as she possibly can, managing to write a catchy and relatable song that is – frankly – irresistible. ‘Backseat’ is the kind of song we would have listened to as teenagers, while going to school, thinking about all the ways we could empower ourselves, take control of our lives and stand up to yet another heartbreak. While we are perhaps now too old to fully embrace the summery and exuberating nature of the track, we can recognise a masterpiece, when we see one. ‘Backseat’ is one of them.

Influenced by the likes of Taylor Swift, The 1975 and Snow Patrol, Chloe Booth is a refreshing offering on the scene, that same scene that has been feeling stagnant for quite some time now. Her energy and playful character really carry the record forward, making us hopeful for her future endeavours.

Produced by Caleb Klimak, the track also celebrates what’s now a fruitful collaboration. Booth had previously struggled to find a musical direction, until – after meeting Caleb in university – the pair was able to relate on a sonic level and pursue a shared sound. Describing the lyrical inspiration behind ‘Backseat’, the Aussie talent explains: “There’s so many external forces that can control the way we think and who we are, comparison being one of them, this song is the realisation that everyone is on their own journey, it’s just up to you to be confident in that.”
