Upon hearing ‘Autumn’, one could very well be mesmerized by it. The Cypress-based rock outfit boasts a very kaleidoscopic and dynamic sound, borrowing from a thousand influences while forging an inherently original style. Sure, you could say that Chica Chino are a rock band, but that would be a limited definition. Instead, they blend indie tones, fuzzy distortion and light keys, in order to realize their personal and charming artistic vision. We are glad they do – the world needs it.
Formed by Raymond Amaya on vocals and bass, Demitri Thrash on vocals and percussion, Jacob Fuchs on lead guitar, and James Behrens on drums, Chica Chino have been together for a long time: first childhood friends, cousins and whatnot, they slowly evolved into a fully-fledged musical reality. Judging by their output, we guess the band has a wonderful alchemy.
Lyrically, ‘Autumn’ explores the troubled and intense journey towards dealing with personal issues, and the constant effort it takes. As the group explains: “Anxiety, debilitating panic attacks, the feeling of isolation in a massive crowd. Autumn is about trying to survive through all of those demons that plague us on the regular.”
