Well, this is the throwback we didn’t know we needed! Hailing from Frankfurt, Germany, Cherry Bomb are excited and committed to paying tribute to the glorious glam rock era of the 80s. Echoing the likes of Motley Crue, Poison and Bon Jovi – among others – the group crafts a surprisingly good album, really delving into the luscious and fierce bubblegum rock sound we all know and love.
Produced at a high standard, ‘Sunset BLVD’ carries a lot of Californian charm and with that, a decisively American flair. The German group does a good job, both from a musical and lyrical standpoint. The instrumental prowess is great, as so are their lead vocals, punchy and anthemic. Frankly, this album is a precious discovery for any keen nostalgics out there.
Speaking about the inspiration behind it, Cherry Bomb explain: “The album itself is like a homage or some sort of tribute to all the bands of the 80s and the great music they’ve provided for their time and the next generations.”
