Charly Haze Follows in the Footsteps of Gabrielle with Heartfelt ‘Out Of Reach’ Cover

There’s a lot you might not know about Charly Haze. Now residing in London, the Dutch songstress has been building a personal project since 2020, channelling modern production styles and vintage 80s influences into one exciting, bubbly and luscious package. While the project is relatively new on the British scene, Haze’s affair with the music industry has been timeless, being signed by a label at the young age of 15, back in her homeland. A veteran in her field, Charly also showcases motivation and resilience, having dealt with painful brain injuries from a car crash a few years back.

Following Up last year’s ‘Gateway Car’ EP, Haze returns with her first release of the year, and it comes as a bit of a surprise, being a chill, loyal cover of Gabrielle’s 1999 smash hit ‘Out Of Reach’. Giving the song a contemporary, electronic production, Haze’s version manages to delve deep into heartfelt territories, delivering a track that’s way more engaging and intense than the original. Could this be a new start for the Dutch artist? Perhaps, her vocals feel perfectly at home in slow-tempo electronic settings, and we wouldn’t mind seeing her back with something similar in the future.

Combined with the singer’s recent endeavours in a side project, ‘Disco Mary’, it is clear how Charly Haze is experiencing an inspired, prolific creative period, as shown so clearly by ‘Out Of Reach’.
