CHARLESCANTBREATHE have been around for the past couple of years, slowly developing into the fierce, eclectic and queer-powered outfit they are today. Their artistic force has always been obvious, especially thanks to frontwoman Charlie Raphael-Campbell’s intense vocals and acute songwriting.
Earlier this week, the group returned to the new music scene with a charming new offering, ‘Gin & Tonic’, a gentle and authentic indie gem with a distinct honest character. Built on clean guitar tones and elegant drum grooves, the track moves with purpose while welcoming lyricism developed on personal experience, teenage angst and the difficulty of overcoming toxic relationships. Owen Turner, Cameron McCarthy and Lucy Yates complete the band’s lineup.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, CHARLESCANTBREATHE explain: “Gin & Tonic is about the trials and tribulations of being a lost, confused, angry teenager from a broken home, and how we trauma bond with our peers and drink, overthink, and scream our way through the toughest years of our lives”.
