‘Lenticular Clouds’ reminds us what music is really about. Evoking an emotion, telling a story: often there is not need for intricate arrangements or a futuristic outlook. Charles Wecker knows it well, reversing the content of his sensible heart into two minutes of pure acoustic bliss, lyrical honesty and soothing energy. That’s a prime example of how a song, in its purest form, can serve as a cathartic outlook.
Hailing from Mancos, Colorado – a place that’s in the middle of nowhere, certainly helping with the bucolic aspect of the project – Wecker draws inspiration from the fragility and nuances of nature, decrypting its beauty in musical terms. ‘Lenticular Clouds’ was written after a hike in the San Juan Mountains, where Charles was particularly impressed with lenticular clouds formations.
Expanding on the motives behind the song, Wecker explains: “It was inspired by going hiking this summer in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado during monsoon season. We went in the morning up to about 10,000 feet and were basically in the clouds. Lenticular clouds look like UFOs and inspired this song.”
