There’s a lot to discover in ‘Cloud 9’. Built over crepuscular, hazy tones, the record is a glorious slice of soothing electronica and multi-genre eclecticism, favouring elegant melodies and hypnotising vocals alongside mysterious and nuanced imagery. Overall, it’s an EP worth discovering, a triumph of indietronica and dream pop prowess, driven by the collaborative effort of husband and wife duo CHAPLAINE.
Guided by Joel and Megan Nicholas, the project is first and foremost an intriguing collective, a space for collaborative artistic exploration. Inspired by the likes of Fashion Director Mary Imhoghenie Edo and Director of Photography Chinyere Anosike, CHAPLAINE now finds its true musical identity in the form of liquid, evocative matter, the perfect match for Megan Nicholas’ luscious vocals.
Speaking about the EP, the pair explains: “We had the best time working on this debut project for our collaborative CHAPLAINE alias. It really is something we are proud of and very happy to be sharing with people”.
