Life is a funny thing. Some doors appear close, but they really aren’t. It’s a learning experience that Chapel of Roses enjoyed recently: a former hyped-up new wave ensemble, the band broke up in the eighties, conducting separate lives ever since. During the pandemic, the core members got together again to kickstart their artistry. See how everything tends to come around?
‘Cast Out to Sea’ is Chapel of Roses’ latest effort, a charming and retro-flavoured new-wave anthem which speaks volumes about the talent behind the ensemble. They were doing great back then for a reason; simply, they are a good band! Taking us back to 1987, Chapel of Roses serves up sharp guitar riffs, distorted textures and legendary, elegant vocals.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the song and their reunion, the group explains: “This song is about rebirth. After the band jammed on an early version of this song, we were thinking about the journey through time and place our separate lives have taken us to come to this point. It’s been forty years! Some of us have had children, divorces, heartbreak, and loss. All of us have lived through time, a relentless beast, a waterfall that can crush us”.
