A positive figure in the rock genre-sphere, Bristol-based musician Chandra champions a friendly, accessible and relatable guitar-powered sound, sharing good vibes and euphoric energy with catchy and authentic songwriting. That’s particularly relevant these days – when our reality becomes too dark to bear, we all can take refuge in music and art, and Chandra is the perfect creative companion for such an endeavour.
‘Smile (No Fox Gibbon)’ is the project’s latest effort, a punchy and playful rock gem built on classic riffs and a vintage, familiar sound. Vocally, Chandra seems to indulge in pop stylings, blending the best of both worlds: it might be a raucous and fierce record, but it also relates easily to a wider audience. The Bristolian singer has a very familiar, amicable tone, instantly commanding the listener’s attention.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, Chandra explains: “We all have moments in our day when we unashamedly beam or uncontrollably snigger at something we’ve seen, remembered or heard. I am the worst for it and it’s gone on for so long that I now find the self-tempering of joy is an autonomic reaction. I wrote this song because it’s something I actively want and need to improve on.”
