We like our Alt-Rock melodic and evocative. As such, we connected with Centershift almost instantly. Their latest single, ‘The Ride’, is a powerful packet of emotional energy, delivered through punchy drums and distorted guitars. The chorus is the section where it all happens: intense and gritty walls of saturation and bright tones help the song stand out, providing the perfect framework for Jasan Radford’s (Onesidezero) luscious and charming vocals, so malleable yet fierce and profound.
Hailing from Los Angeles, Centershift are almost a supergroup, having collected members from a plethora of already-known bands in the alt-rock scene: Ryan Shane Stuber (ex-Shuvel) on guitar, Ted Wenri (ex-Bemus) on bass and drummer Stefan Storace (ex-BLüPRNT). The result – of course – is a group that’s immensely solid and nuanced.
Produced by renowned producer Jose Alcantar, ‘The Ride’ is a stunning record that’s bound to shine a light on Centershift. They really are the modern heroes in the scene, and we are hoping they’ll keep going to craft records just like that. Speaking about the lyricism behind the single, Radford explains: “The Ride’ is about speaking to a loved one that has passed, and never getting to say the Words. Don’t take time for granted”.
