Cassidy Dickens is naturally gifted like that, reversing her fragility and sensibility into light and comforting nuggets of musical goodness. Built on Folk and acoustic tones, the project rejoices in the introspective and reflective lyricism so greatly championed by Dickens, delivered through honey-like, evocative vocals.
‘Deep End’ is the Nashville-based talent’s latest effort, a wonderful recollection of the emotional rollercoaster surrounding relationships and romance. Through the song, Dickens offers solace and motivation to the keen listener, exploring the highs and lows of human behaviours, and that trembling feeling of making a new relationship work. That’s the magic of it all, when you are trying to make something work, you cannot hide behind anything, it’s the most authentic version of yourself on the line.
Produced by Sean Giovanni at The Record Shop in Nashville, ‘Deep End’ is a stunning offering from Dickens, showcasing once again the depth and eclecticism in her artistry. Delving into the inspiration behind the single, she explains: “I’ve always envisioned falling in love like falling backwards into a pool. Deep End is about that feeling of closing your eyes, knowing it’s entirely possible you could slip and get hurt, but choosing to let yourself go anyway… and that shock of feeling utterly alive that comes when we hit the water.”
